Nestling at the base of the Dunkery Commons on the National Trust Holnicote Estate in Exmoor National Park, Porlock Vale Campsite offers stunning views across to Selworthy, Hurlestone Point, and the Bristol Channel.  

This lovely field on a working farm welcomes adult campers seeking peace, quiet and to connect with nature. Explore the beautiful surrounding countryside and coastline with endless walking and cycling - and enjoy the sunsets and the incredible Dark Skies as you relax at the campsite. Well-behaved dogs very welcome.

At Porlock Vale Campsite, our mission is to provide a beautiful, peaceful space for you to enjoy this wonderful area.  We believe that spending time in nature enhances mental and physical health and wellbeing - an opportunity to reset, relax and rebalance and connect with the natural world.

We offer fifteen spacious pitches in this nine acre field, for tents and campervans. Campsite facilities include warm showers, flushing toilets (+ a compost loo) and washing up area. Low level solar and battery lighting. No electricity on site, in this stunning Exmoor Dark Sky Reserve.

This campsite is adjacent to 5000 acres of Dunkery Commons wilderness and beautiful countryside and coast, with endless walking and cycling in all directions. Spectacular scenery, pretty local villages and hamlets (inc Luccombe, Horner, Selworthy, Allerford, Bossington and Wootton Courtenay) and Porlock and Minehead just a 3 mile drive.

    About Porlock Vale Campsite

    Our Story

    We believe in the power of nature to enhance mental and physical health and wellbeing and this beautiful campsite offers a place to disconnect from your busy life and reconnect with yourself and the natural world.  Well behaved dogs are welcome. 

    The farm and surrounding area are part of the National Trust Holnicote Estate's Landscape Recovery Scheme, where we’re working to evolve the wildlife corridors and habitat, create wildflower and herbal areas, wood pasture and wetlands. 

    If you’re looking to de-stress and rebalance, challenge your fitness in the dramatic Exmoor terrain, meander through forests, river valleys and delightful villages, relax by the firepit and gaze at the stars - this is the place to pitch, in peace and quiet with stunning views.


    Along with myriad wildlife, including red deer, birds of prey, beavers and water voles, this farm is home to a large Exmoor pony conservation herd, and there are opportunities to join experiences to Connect With Exmoor Ponies & Yourself (one of the English National Park Experiences).  


     Porlock Vale Campsite has Greener Camping Club certification (the annual membership for campers is only £12 and a tree is planted for each member) and we feel working with Greener Camping for the good of nature is a great partnership. 

    Our Facilities

    We offer 15 spacious camping pitches within a lovely 9 acre field. There are basic, clean, well-maintained facilities which include warm showers, flushing loos (+ a compost loos) and warm water washing up area. Well-behaved dogs are welcome. We ask campers to respect nature, recycle and leave no trace. 

    Activities

    Enjoy hiking, cycling, sightseeing, swimming in the sea, or just relaxing by the campfire - there's so much to see and experience in Exmoor National Park. Check out our Exmoor Pony Experiences and the many local events to see what's happening during your stay.

Forget Kent, this is most definitely God’s County & the white church at Selworthy (seen in the distance) surely proves this.There is ample room to find your own secluded patch & the facilities are most welcome.
