CampSITE reviews - porlock vale campsite, exmoor national pa

Enjoy incredibly spacious, peaceful pitches surrounded by stunning scenery, and endless Exmoor walki

The view and the area is amazing...

"The view and the area is amazing. It was peaceful and beautiful. It’s clean and tidy. Everything was thought of. The showers were hot and with decent pressure. And with flushing toilets too!
Dawn is a great host and a wonderful woman. She cares a lot and was incredibly responsive to any questions I had and also helped me as I needed more pegs for my tent! Thank you 😊
It was an overall lovely experience. I will be back ❤️"

Campsite in a beautiful setting, with views all round, a place to relax...

"Campsite in a beautiful setting, with views all round, a place to relax. Very warm greeting from Dawn. Loads of options for walks from the site - leave the car behind! Peaceful site with some amazing wildlife in the area. Great for sitting round the fire and enjoying the dark sky. Facilities immaculately clean. Lovely touch with pots of herbs and pollinator flowers. Truly a green campsite doing all the right things for the environment."

A perfect, quiet, friendly site for exploring beautiful Exmoor...

"A perfect, quiet, friendly site for exploring beautiful Exmoor. Beautiful panoramic views (to Selworthy, the sea and to S Wales beyond) and sunsets; well kept field; very clean tidy and organised facilities; perfect location with some of the best parts of Exmoor walkable from the campsite; lovely quaint villages nearby. Dawn was ultra welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable - we learnt a lot about the delightful Exmoor ponies and all the great environmental work being done by many (farmers, landowners, organisations, trusts). Our 5th visit to a Greener Camping site - and definitely our favourite to which we shall return. Very highly recommended!"

Great low impact camping site, amazing views...

"Loved the ethos at this site. Low impact camping. Solar power, recycling, the care for the environment. There was so much space so we didn’t have to worry about disturbing other people when we were packing up early because we were hiking. Hot showers were very welcome. The views as we sat outside our tent having a coffee were amazing."

For a relaxing week with amazing scenery this campsite is a must...

"We stayed in our campervan for one week at this stunning campsite. We parked up, fired up the solar panels and had a very comfortable week at this off grid campsite. The views from the campsite are to die for, wherever you decide to pitch on this spacious site. There are plenty of footpaths, bridleways and charming country lanes direct from the campsite that enabled us to walk or bike every day with no need to use our van. No two days were the same. This part of Exmoor is stunning with wild moors, beautiful forests and stunning coastline. The toilets, showers and washing up area are clean and functional. There is a chemical disposal point for Van's which you don't always get on an off grid campsite. This allowed us to stay for longer in our van. The host Dawn and her two lovely dogs are very welcoming and full of local knowledge. For a relaxing week with amazing scenery this campsite is a must."

This is semi-wild camping at its finest...

"The grandest of fields, surrounded by the most breathtaking views. Forget Kent, this is most definitely God’s County & the white church at Selworthy (seen in the distance) surely proves this.
There is ample room to find your own secluded patch & the facilities are most welcome. Dawn is the coolest & most gracious hostess & don’t forget to check out the wonderful work she is doing with Exmoor ponies.
Dawn, thank you so much for sharing your little slice of heaven…can’t wait to return."

Beautifully located, peaceful site, and the most welcoming host...

"Absolutely love this site, the views are stunning, surrounded by nothing but greenery, listening to nature and the nearby farm animals, this place is good for the soul. Dawn couldn't be nore welcoming and the facilities are exactley what you need. We will be coming back when ever we can, the dogs have made us promise ."

We liked absolutely everything about this site...

"It's location is stunning and Exmoor is only a field away. The facilities were excellent, the welcome warm and friendly and the owner is committed to restoring the natural environment, both in the high environmental standards she has set for the site and in her participation with wider greening projects in Porlock Vale."

Complete escape into peace and nature...

"Absolutely loved this site for its views and for how quiet it was. I watched the sunset colours keep changing over the sea from my bed - stunningly beautiful and a priceless experience! I watched deer grazing in the same field below me. The site has everything you need in terms of loos, hot showers and washing up areas. Dawn was extremely kind and welcoming, she keeps a great eye on the campsite."

A very special, peaceful place for those who love nature...

"This beautiful site is a very special place for those who love nature - the most relaxing, restorative camping experience we’ve ever had! Perfectly hosted too."

As soon as we arrived we knew this stay would be special...

"The views in any direction are so beautiful. We found a spot overlooking the valley that seemed so private and just for us. The campsite is so quiet, bar the sheep, cows, peacocks, owls etc, creating a peaceful, nature filled soundscape like no other. Lots of space to feel on your own and away from other campers."

Perfect for a relaxed getaway...

"The location is stunning and has great access to loads of walking routes. The facilities are exactly what you need and Dawn is very welcoming and offers good advice in where to go in the local area. I highly recommend Horner Tea Gardens for a spot of lunch."
